Uncertain times, certain change

Several high profile reviews agree on one thing: regulation has been lacking and is in need of fundamental reform

The momentum for regulatory change is in full swing with all of the various post-banking crisis reviews agreeing that the current system is in need of an overhaul. Over the past few weeks, there has been plenty of discussion about the future of financial services regulation in Europe following the publication of Jacques de Larosière’s report to the European Commission, while in the UK Lord Turner unveiled his review of banking regulation.
