Philip Morris ordered to pay $8mn in damages

Philip Morris has been ordered to pay $8m in damages to the widow of a smoker who died of lung cancer, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. The jury awarded Elaine Hess, whose husband died in 1997 having been a chain smoker for most of his life.
