Award for lost finger injury

A man working as an operations technician has been awarded £16,000 after he lost part of his finger in an accident at work. He was using a torque air gun to secure the bolts onto the weights on a truck when the incident occurred. As he operated the gun the torque arm whipped around and caught the man’s left hand middle finger. He sustained a crushing amputation to the tip of his middle finger. The employer had provided a torque air gun that was too powerful for the job and after the accident the torque gun was withdrawn from use.
