£280,000 for assaulted teacher

A teacher who was assaulted by a pupil during the course of her work as a special needs teacher has received £280,000 from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). The assault occurred when a 13 year old male pupil grabbed hold of her and jumped on her back placing her in a headlock. She fell to the floor hitting the wall and a window as she fell. The pupil was known to have violent tendencies and had previously assaulted another member of staff. The assault caused her to have post traumatic stress disorder. She will never be able to return to teaching.
