Chemical cleaner injury award

A supermarket employee has received almost £9,000 in compensation following an accident at work. She worked as a general assistant at the supermarket petrol station. She was asked by her manager to clean a fridge with chemical cleaner which came in an unmarked bottle. She was not provided with any information about the cleaning product nor was she provided with gloves. Shortly after using this product, her hands started to burn. They became red raw and very swollen. She was taken to hospital to be treated for a serious chemical reaction. She was off work for a month.
