Hand and arm vibration syndrome damages

A man working for a gas company has been awarded £15,000 after developing hand and arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) from repeated use of vibrating power tools in the course of his job. During his daily working routine he used a range of vibrating power tools including jack hammers, rock drills, whacker plates and a Hilti gun. The tools would be used for a variety of purposes including breaking up concrete to gain access to gas pipe work for maintenance and repairs to be carried out.
