£127,454 for mesothelioma widow
The widow of a man who worked as a machine setter has been awarded £127,454 following her husband’s death from mesothelioma.
He joined the company as an apprentice in the machine shop in 1961 and was exposed to asbestos from 1961 to 1978 when the
use of asbestos was then faded out at the company. He handled asbestos on a regular basis in his daily work as it was used
to lag the steam and oil heaters to prevent damage to the component manufactured by the company. Blue asbestos was cut, drilled
and holes punched to create the shapes required creating a thick asbestos dust throughout the premises.
