£180,000 for widow of mesothelioma victim
The widow of a man who worked as a painter and decorator has been awarded £180,000 following his death from mesothelioma.
He worked for a painting company for two periods of employment from 1954 to 1963 and again in 1981 to 1984. During the course
of his daily duties for the company he would be required to sand down sofit boards, eaves, guttering and down pipes so that
he could repaint them. Many of these structures were constructed of asbestos. The sanding process created quantities of asbestos
dust which would fall over him as he worked. He was never warned of the dangers of asbestos exposure and he was not provided
with any form of face mask or respirator.
