£20,000 award for asbestosis
A man working as a maintenance engineer has been awarded £20,000 after developing asbestosis. The man worked on machinery
running confectionary production lines. The man was initially diagnosed as suffering from pleural plaques and asbestosis.
A medical expert diagnosed the man as suffering from 40% lung disability attributable to his asbestosis. His employer disagreed
with the level of lung disability, stating that it was only 15%. There was also a disagreement between medical experts as
to the likely progression of the asbestosis.
