£48,000 compensation for mesothelioma
The family of a man who died from mesothelioma have received an out of court settlement of more than £48,000 compensation.
The man worked as an apprentice engineer. He was exposed to asbestos whilst working on board the ships at the shipyard. Laggers
would mix asbestos with water to create an asbestos insulation cement which would be applied onto the pipes on board the ships.
He then went to sea with the Merchant Navy carrying out running repairs as a marine engineer.
