£500,000 settlement for road accident

A man who suffered a fracture to his spine in a road accident has received a settlement of £500,000. The accident was caused when his car was struck from behind by a lorry — the lorry driver was at fault through not paying attention. The injury caused a chronic pain state to develop which severely affected his ability to work. The settlement was made out of court.
