£90,000 damages over home buyers survey

A young family who had engaged a surveyor to carry out a home buyer’s survey & valuation report on a property they were interested in purchasing have received damages. The family purchased the property, relying on the report. Shortly after purchasing the property and whilst in the process of decorating, it became evident that the property had asbestos throughout. The risk of asbestos being present in the property was not highlighted in the report. If it had been highlighted in the report, the property would not have been worth the amount that the family paid for it. The family received £90,000 in damages.
