Value of sector stocks fall by nearly 50.0% in 2008

Two thousand and eight will no doubt go down in history as one of the toughest years for insurance and reinsurance stocks. In terms of the sector stocks tracked by WIR, only four (Amlin, Catlin and Odyssey Re and Platinum) finished the year with their value enhanced rather than, as was case for the vast majority of stocks, greatly diminished.
