Non-life sector continues to trail life growth

Capital injections totalling NT$14.2bn strengthened the insurance margins of 12 life companies in 2007

Taiwan’s direct non-life insurers recorded premiums of NT$112.6bn in 2007, boosting non-life insurance spending per capita to US$462. The domestic companies’ market share totalled 96.4%, with the seven foreign firms operating in Taiwan sharing the remaining 3.6%, according to new figures released by the Taiwan Insurance Institute (TII) for 2007.
