Council wins appeal over discrimination ruling

Islington council has won its appeal against a ruling that it discriminated against a Christian registrar who refused to conduct civil partnerships. The registrar had said that she could not carry out same-sex ceremonies “as a matter of religious conscience”. In July, an employment tribunal found that the north London council had unlawfully discriminated against her.
