Compensation for back injuries

A man who worked as a production welder has been awarded £40,000 for the injuries he sustained at work. The man, assisted by a colleague, was transferring a steel side member on his right shoulder when he tripped on a cable twisting his upper body to the left and experienced an immediate sharp pain in his lower back. He sustained a severe wrenching injury to the soft tissue around the lumbar spine, which in turn traumatised a degenerate spinal disc advancing the onset of severe pain and sciatica by a period of five years.
