Widow wins £114,000 mesothelioma damages
The widow of a man who died from mesothelioma has been awarded £114,000. He worked as a process worker and then as an electricians
mate at a sugar processing plant. He was frequently exposed to asbestos as part of his job as an electrician’s mate when he
removed asbestos from pipes and equipment which involved having to chip, chisel and saw off old asbestos lagging to allow
access to the pipes and equipment to repair them. On other occasions he was present when new asbestos was put into large barrels
and mixed with water to re-lag pipes and equipment.
