£125,000 mesothelioma award

The long term partner of a shipwright has been awarded £125,000 following his death from mesothelioma. He was directly exposed to asbestos in his day to day work in the 20 years he spent refitting submarines and warships. His work involved metalwork and lagging which meant he often cut away old asbestos lagging using a hammer and cold chisel. No protective equipment such as face mask was provided.
