£211,573 award for mesothelioma death
The widow of a man who worked as a weaver has been awarded £211,573 following his death from mesothelioma. He was exposed
to asbestos dust when he worked as a weaver at a woollen mill. Although he never directly handled asbestos the roof and pipes
in the area in which he worked were lagged with asbestos. The lagging was often disturbed by maintenance work creating clouds
of asbestos dust in the air and settling on the machines he worked on. He was never warned of the dangers of exposure to asbestos
and no protective equipment was provided.
