£362,830 damages for crushed leg
A man working as an agricultural contractor has been awarded £362,830 after his leg was crushed and later amputated in an
accident with a fork lift truck on a farm. He was walking through the workshop on the farm’s premises when a 2.5 ton counter
balance fell from a fork lift truck. He was taken to hospital and underwent a below-knee amputation to his left leg. He has
ongoing care needs which may increase in the future when he faces the possibility of becoming wheelchair dependent and his
property will need to be adapted to suit those needs.
