Bond market troubles affect Florida Cat Fund

Keeping fingers crossed and hoping the wind doesn’t blow is not one of the top 10 recognised risk management strategies, but that’s what the state of Florida is now doing after the local Cat Fund admitted the wider financial difficulties meant it could have a shortfall of as much as $15.5bn in the event a mega-hurricane hits in the remaining weeks of the 2008 storm season.
