Reported Gustav and Ike losses now top $13bn

Losses reported by major insurers and reinsurers from hurricanes Ike and Gustav totalled about $13.4bn, as AIC went to press. Our table shows the details by company, with those losses reported in non-US currencies converted into dollars. The overall maximum figure excludes the Lloyd’s overall loss of $2.3bn as individual Lloyd’s agencies have reported their own losses, as shown in the table. Also, the total will include a lot of double counting through the inclusion of reinsurance losses that may also appear under primary insurers’ loss figures.
