US study into discovery process

A study, sponsored by the US Chamber Institute for Legal Reform, has found that the discovery process is overly expensive and being abused. On average, 45-50% of respondents’ civil litigation costs in 2007 related to discovery activities. The survey, entitled “The State of Discovery Abuse in Civil Litigation - A Survey of Chief Legal Officers - Interim Findings”, provides insight into the experience of American businesses with discovery in civil litigation.
