Asbestosis damages for panel beater

A welder and panel beater has been awarded £42,500 after developing asbestosis. He regularly undertook rectification work when there was damage to parts of the vehicles. In his early days of his employment with the company he had to repair the wings and mudguards of the cars by filling any gaps or by welding and grinding. He would then apply asbestos to the mudguard. The asbestos came in a powder form and the member would be required to wet it and stick it all around the mudguard. He was not offered any protective equipment and was not warned of the dangers of working with asbestos.
