Serious back injury wins compensation

A composite moulder for an aerospace firm has been awarded £225,000 for a serious back injury he sustained whilst building the wing of an aircraft. He was guiding the manoeuvre of a mould of the aircraft wing flap for an A340 aircraft when the injury occurred. The mould which weighed 1.5 tonnes was placed on a trolley between two work benches. In order to move the mould which was in a confined space, an operator used an electric hand fork lift whilst he and a colleague stood in between the benches to help guide the mould in between the benches.
