26.10, gas pipeline explosions

Canada: two EnCana sour gas pipelines attacked with explosives earlier in the month have been repaired and put back into service. RCMP anti-terrorism officers continued a probe into the blasts near Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and arrested a 21-year-old man on five unrelated outstanding warrants after his name surfaced during the investigation. Oil and gas companies in the region stepped up security monitoring after two bombings were discovered in less than a week at EnCana pipelines near the Alberta-British Columbia border. The explosions came in the wake of suspicious letters sent to local media outlets threatening attacks if oil and gas operations did not shut down and leave the area. The first explosion left a crater beneath a pipeline; the second blast fractured a nearby pipeline and caused a small leak. There were no reports of injuries connected to the explosions.
