Government proposes compensation scheme to protect retail funds

Finance houses that have frozen funds will not be eligible • Nervous investors reduce Axa New Zealand fund levels

The New Zealand government has eased investors’ concerns by providing a retail deposit guarantee scheme which could protect individual investments of up to NZ$1mn in the country’s banks, credit unions, building societies, and deposit-taking finance companies.
