Insurers less reliant on investment income

According to the CEA, over three quarters of insurance companies’ current profits were generated by “technical” activities, whereas before the last stock market crash in 2002 and 2003 this proportion had been barely 20%

AIG notwithstanding, insurance companies are considered reasonably well protected from the current crisis sweeping the financial markets.
