“Collective Redress” in Europe: Not Quite There Yet

In this past year or so, Europe has become more receptive to the idea of “collective redress” mechanisms. The European Commission
(EC) has presented a White Paper, on damages actions for breaches of the EC antitrust rules, which proposes specific measures
to compensate the victims of such breaches, including collective redress. Further, at a national level, some European countries
have recently proposed or introduced collective redress legislation and, in particular, the position in the UK and Italy is
considered in this article.
