Worker awarded over £15,000 for back injury

A man working on a cereal production line has been awarded £15,702 after he injured his back. He was replacing a roll head from a machine when the incident occurred. In order to replace the roll head he had to lean into the machine, prise it out and then lift it on to a trolley. It was whilst he was carrying out this task that he sustained a slipped disc in his lower back. The employer made an offer to settle the claim for £12,905. This offer was rejected and the claim was settled for £15,702.
