Turner & Newall Scheme payment

The family of a woman who died after being diagnosed with mesothelioma has received compensation the Turner & Newall (T&N) Scheme. According to her lawyer, the value of the mesothelioma claim under the scheme would ordinarily have been £110,000, however, as there was no insurance for the company prior to 1969, only 17p in the pound was payable of the £110,000. As a result, her family received the sum of £18,735. There is a possibility of further payments in the future and specifically in five years time. Indications are that this is likely to be 3p in the pound (of the £110,000 sum).
