BEIJING RAISES UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE PAYMENT THRESHOLD

The unemployment insurance payment threshold in Beijing was raised by Yuan80 – the ninth increase since the system was introduced in November 1999. China's current social security framework, entitles employees to benefits from five main insurance programmes: pension, unemployment, medical treatment, injury at work, and pre-and-post natal care if the employees are female. The system is funded by monthly contributions from employers and employees as well as by the government.
