ABI opposes law change

The Law Commissions will draft legislation switching-off the duty to disclose; the ABI questions need for reform

The UK’s leading trade body the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has opposed proposals to reform consumer protection aspects of current insurance law, in particular on pre-contract information requirements. The Law Commission and Scottish Law Commission are in the midst of a series of consultations over insurance contract law but they recently issued a response to consumer issues having identified this area as “in urgent need of reform”.
