27.5, explosion, damaged pipeline
Turkey: natural gas supplies from Iran to Turkey were severed after an explosion damaged a pipeline between the two countries.
The blast, the cause of which remains unknown, occurred 13 kilometres from the Iranian border in the eastern Turkish province
of Agri, the state-run BOTAS gas company said in a statement. The company said there was no evidence to suggest a terrorist
attack and officials were considering the possibility of a gas build-up. The explosion sparked a fire, forcing the authorities
to cut the gas flow through the pipeline to bring the blaze under control.
