Chinese ban to be lifted

Chinese insurers could be allowed to operate in Taiwan as a response to the improvement in Taiwan-China relations

With political relations between China and Taiwan on the mend, the insurance regulator in Taipei is considering lifting the ban on Chinese insurance companies having a presence in the country. The Financial Supervisory Commission in Taipei has indicated that it will initially allow Chinese insurance companies to set up liaison offices in Taiwan before outlining the frame work under which they will be allowed to sell and service products at a later stage.
