Earthquake costs insurers US$31mn

The regulator has confirmed that almost 16,000 life insurance policyholders lost their lives in the disaster

Updated figures from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission show that local insurance companies have paid out $31mn to victims of the massive earthquake that hit the southwest province of Sichuan and resulted in over 70,000 deaths.
