Award over thumb injury
A man has received £10,000 compensation after crushing his thumb at work. He worked as a contractor on a building site when
the accident happened. He was walking along a designated walkway on site when he tripped over debris that had been left lying
around by other contractors. He was carrying a large electrical tool over his shoulder at the time. As he fell he put his
right hand forward to save himself and as he did so the tool fell from his shoulder crushing his right thumb. He underwent
surgery and has been left with residual stiffness and some cold intolerance.
