Out of court settlement over burns

A man has received £10,000 in an out of court settlement after a burn injury at work. He worked at a foundry when he received severe burns after being splashed with molten metal. He was melting manganese scrap metal in a furnace. The furnace became blocked and as he tried to unblock it, the metal suddenly dropped into the furnace causing a splash back. Molten metal, some of which was wet, showered him, setting his clothes ablaze. He was left with permanent scarring to his right hand, elbow, forearm, abdomen and leg.
