Soldier shot on training exercise wins damages

A soldier who was accidentally shot as a result of a negligent discharge while on live firing training exercises in Canada has received a settlement of £30,000 from the Ministry of Defence. The claimant suffered a superficial gunshot wound to his chest wall and arm. He developed a phobic anxiety associated with firearms and he was medically discharged from the infantry as a result.
