£203,474 in damages for mesothelioma
A man who was diagnosed with mesothelioma has received £203,474 in compensation. He worked at the British Rail Doncaster Plant
Works for most of his working life between 1961 and 1997. He was employed as an indentured apprentice coach painter, and later
qualified as a coach painter. The paint shop where he was based was next to the carriage fitting department where a form of
sprayed asbestos lagging insulation was applied to the steel framework of the railway coaches. The compensation was paid in
an out of court settlement.
