Damages over lifting heavy objects

A man who was injured at work from lifting heavy objects has received £20,000 in compensation. He was working as a waste disposal operative when he severely injured his abdominal muscles in the accident. At the time, he was lifting heavy bags into a wagon. He had not been provided with a tail-lift which would have avoided him having to lift the bags to chest height and prevented the injury. As a result of this, he has had to change his job to one involving only light duties as he cannot be involved in any lifting activities.
