Asbestos damages awarded

A man has been awarded £20,000 in provisional damages after being exposed to asbestos in the workplace. He developed asbestosis after being exposed to asbestos while working for a shipyard during the 1960s. He said he remembers being exposed to asbestos on a regular basis but was not warned of the dangers or given any protective clothing. He is free to claim further compensation if he goes on to develop other asbestos related diseases or if his condition worsens.
