New guidelines on latex allergy in hospitals

New guidelines from the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) and NHS Plus have urged the health service to use powder-free, low protein latex gloves as an alternative to powdered gloves as this significantly reduces latex allergy and latex-induced asthma. The guidelines, which are supported by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, also recommended that employees with latex-related problems should use non-latex gloves, but that there does not need to be a complete ban on the use of latex gloves.
