Mesothelioma award to family
The family of a man who died from mesothelioma has received £317,878 in an out-of-court settlement. During his employment
he was responsible for filling the cavities between the outer and inner shell of tanks with asbestos. He only did the job
for a period of just a few weeks, when he worked as a general labourer on a construction contract. He had no evidence of his
employment with the company, and his employment predated records held by the Inland Revenue. The company denied ever having
employed him and said that even if they had employed him, asbestos was not used on the site at which he had worked at the
time. Eventually the company admitted employment.
