Liability Risk and Insurance
Award for excessive noise injury
The claimant worked as a doffer in a textile mill and was exposed to excessive noise without ear protection between 1964-1967.
The noise was predominantly from textile machinery. She pursued a claim for noise induced hearing loss and received £4000
in compensation. The claim was settled quickly without admission of liability. The employer went out of business many years
ago, but her lawyers were able to trace the insurers of the company.
