Validity of English Arbitration clause challenged - Whether Brussels Jurisdiction Convention applies

The plaintiffs agreed to buy from the defendants a cargo of Iranian crude oil shipped on board the vessel Atlantic Emperor . The buyers alleged that the sale contract contained an English arbitration clause. The sellers contended that the arbitration clause, although proffered by the buyers, was never accepted by the sellers.
