Service of writ on overseas company which has ceased to carry on business within Great Britain - Whether effective - Construction of section 695 of the Companies Act 1985
This was a summons by the Bank, whose head office was in New Delhi, India, to set aside service of a writ, purportedly served
on them on 2 March 1988 at the London office of the State Bank of India. Such service was effected in reliance upon a return
dated 13 August 1987 delivered by the Bank to the Registrar of Companies in accordance with the requirements of section 692(i)(c)
of the Companies Act 1985 which named a Mr. Bakshi as the person authorised to accept service on behalf of the Bank at the
Bank of India address.
