Charterers alleged that a crude oil cargo had been contaminated by some 6,000 barrels of water. They brought arbitration proceedings against the shipowners. The charterers alleged that the presence of seawater in the cargo was caused by leakages between the vessel’s cargo ducts and her ballast system.
