Charterparty clause extends demurrage time

The vessel was chartered on the Gencon form. She loaded a cargo of logs and lumber at Sinoe, West Africa, and sailed to her three ports of discharge, namely Leixoes, Santander and Amsterdam in that rotation. All the allowed laytime was used at Sinoe, and the vessel went on demurrage. Demurrage continued to count while the vessel was at Leixoes, and again at Santander and Amsterdam. Discharge was completed at Amsterdam at 21 00 on 4 April 1981. Although that event would usually signify the end of demurrage time, there was a special provision in the charterparty as to the discharge ports, which read:
