Compania Naviera Micro S.A. v. Shipley International (The Parouth) - Court of Appeal (Waller, Ackner & May L.JJ.) - 24 June 1982

Leave to serve writ out of jurisdiction where issue is whether a charterparty had in fact been concluded between principals outside the jurisdiction

The plaintiffs, a Panamanian company, owned the vessel Parouth. The defendants were American freight forwarders. The defendants were approached by C. Corpn. to try and find a vessel for transporting a cargo from Germany to Mexico. The defendants asked Dutch brokers to assist in the search and negotiations took place regarding the possibility of chartering the Parouth.
